Clubwomen in Action
Sedgefield Woman’s Club was organized and federated in 1961 in the Sedgefield Community. Our volunteer efforts center on five community service programs as well as three annual fundraisers. The impact of SWC reaches local, state, national, and international levels of need.
The Environment Committee did a landscaping clean-up project at Millis Road Elementary School. Thank you to Donna Church, Sheryl Hamilton, Sherri Mitchell, and Jude Fiorello for your hard work!

Brain Break Box
We made balloon stress balls complete with faces and hair, seek and find tubes filled with rice and lots of trinkets, and breathing cards. Flo Gullickson had already made a fleece marble maze for each flip lid box. Each labeled “Brain Break Box” houses a stress ball, seek and find tube, breathing card, 3 x 3 puzzle cube, pop it fidgets toy, wacky track toy and fleece marble maze. Excellent work ladies!

Health & Wellness committee delivered an early morning breakfast to the hardworking staff at Sedgefield Elementary School on Groometown Road.
Donna Church and her group brought breakfast casseroles, quiches, muffins, fresh fruit, poppy seed cake, sausage biscuits, and sausage balls. In addition, the group provided an assortment of Keurig pods along with fresh orange juice and bottled waters for the teachers and other staff to enjoy.
One of the committee members, Caren Standen, invited a massage therapist who brought her massage chair. The masseuse was able to provide massages to the teachers as their names were chosen in a drawing. The ones we spoke to said it was heaven to get this free massage to help with their very stressful jobs.
The students were out of school on this day for a teacher workday, so they had a lot to do in a short time, which made a free breakfast and free massage especially welcome. Judging by all the smiling faces they enjoyed this treat and were very grateful.
In addition to all the breakfast goodies and massages, Chair Donna Church, presented a check to the school principal, Mrs. Acevedo, for $250.00 for the teachers to buy books at their upcoming book fair. for there classrooms.

Our Program to Learn More About Our New Afghan Neighbors
We strive to learn about current events that affects our neighbors. We felt it was definitely an important cultural experience to learn more about the Afghanistan people that had to leave their home country and start over in Greensboro. We invited two or our sister clubs to join us and enjoyed having members of the Greensboro Woman’s Club and Southwest Woman’s Club attend. This program deeply touched us all and it is expected that many will decide to get to get involved and help our new neighbors make Greensboro their new home. We are proud to share the video below.
